Glade Fern

The “Glade” Fern, Athryium pycnocarpon, is quite rare in Pittsylvania County. It inhabits forested seepage slopes in the northern tip of the county. Its distinct features are outstanding, when it comes to identifying it.  This photo was made in late May 1969.
