On the old Rison farm (Pawpaw Plantation) just a few miles north of Museville there is now the remains of a limestone quarry, the crushed rocks from which were used for adding lime to local soils. The present-day folks now living on the farm have been generous in allowing visiting students to collect rock specimens.
Marble is a metamorphic rock consisting mostly of fine- to coarse-grained calcite and/or dolomite. Of the various grays, greenish, and smoke-colored specimens the somewhat rare pink color is searched out by most collectors.
