The Pine-barren Gentian (Gentiana autumnalis) is a perennial having a corolla with pleats between the acute or obtuse floral lobes; flowers are solitary at end of stem. The leaves are linear. This species, which is found in pine barrens and savannahs, is considered a rare plant.
My picture was taken in the Green Swamp, Brunswick County, North Carolina in October, 1972.
